Filippo Centenari’s research is rooted in multimedia, where painting, video, mechanics and electronics coexist and intertwine in projects of a different nature, creating interaction and overturning the technical conventions of each chosen medium.
His early work focused on studying new digital and electronic media, supported by the use of computers as a means of distributing the projects themselves. In a second phase, painterly and sculptural materials came to the fore, leading Centenari to develop a metalanguage capable of challenging conventions and reversing the structural logic of everyday objects, bringing them into interaction with the viewer.
Centenari works continuously with painting and video, seeking synthesis and collage across media: from Polaroid to digital printing, from video to installation and the interaction of expressive forms. His practice continuously fragments and reconstructs images and media drawn from history and new digital spaces, bringing small fragments together in a new – or rather, different – harmony.
