Beatriz Millar
Beatriz Millar was born in 1967 in Einsiedeln, Switzerland. She lives and works in Toscolano-Maderno, on the shores of Lake Garda in Italy.
After graduating from the Lehrerseminar in Rickenbach, in the canton of Schwyz, with a diploma in primary education, she taught for six years at a primary school in Küssnacht am Rigi, Switzerland. At the same time, she studied wood sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule, the fine arts academy in Lucerne. A passion for fashion brought her to Milan as a model, where she resumed her studies and graduated in fashion design from the IGOS Institute.
Her work takes a variety of expressive forms, conceptually centred on femininity and addressing the transcendental world through a multimedia language. It encompasses performances – “PLASTIC DORIANNE IN LOVE”, “Hamartanein”, “Beatrizifal’s Tarot”, “Blue(S)atin”, “EENA’s Formula” and “Lux Mater” – as well as photography and painting, video and sculpture, furniture and design objects, interweaving the artist’s personal origins.
