Marco Nereo Rotelli
Marco Nereo Rotelli
Marco Nereo Rotelli was born in Venice in 1955 and graduated in architecture there in 1982.
For many years, he has explored light and the poetic dimension, in a practice Harald Szeemann described as “an expansion of the artistic context”.
Over the years, Rotelli has developed connections between art and different fields of knowledge. His research has therefore involved philosophers, musicians, photographers and filmmakers, but above all poetry, which has become a constant reference point for his work.
In 2000, he founded Art Project, a group of young artists and architects now directed by Elena Lombardi with Margherita Zambelli and Filippo Cavalli. Together, they have created numerous interventions and urban installation projects.
This commitment has led to his participation in seven editions of the Venice Biennale, as well as numerous solo and group exhibitions.
He was invited to Northwestern University in Chicago as an artist in residence in winter 2013.
His works are held in museums and important private collections around the world.
Some of the leading art critics, together with poets, writers, philosophers and figures from international culture, have written about him, building a substantial bibliography on his work.
